For many, collecting toys and figures is not just a fun hobby - it's a passion project. Most of the time, people do it for either enjoyment or enterprising reasons. Whether it's for money, fun or memories - there are many benefits that come from collecting such prized items.
In this blog, we will show you exactly what these benefits are, and hopefully spark some inspiration to join the toy collecting community!
The Benefits of Toy Collecting
Collecting toys is exciting, satisfying and relaxing - but there’s so much more to it than that. When you first start out, you don’t realise the potential that’s in front of you. Below is a list of benefits you can expect when you start collecting toys:
Diversify Your Knowledge
When you become invested in a certain collection - whether it be movie figures, model planes or train sets - you slowly start to become an expert in these areas. This ever-growing knowledge means that you can showcase expertise and feel valued in your new community, whether it be in-person or online.
You can also learn a lot from fellow collectors. For example: on YouTube, they can introduce you to some extra rare collections that you maybe haven’t seen yet. A forum can provide you with advice on where to buy (and where not to buy). A toy blog is another great benefit of collecting, as you can easily stay up-to-date on the latest collectables - or even start one yourself! The more you engage with the community and read about the toy you want to purchase, the more informed your investment will be. This means you can always be sure you’re making the right decision before you buy.
Stay in Touch With Your Imagination
For most people, it never is ‘just a collection’. With these collections, comes a whole new imagination that’s just waiting to be untapped. For example: you can be inspired by an existing storyline within your collection to create your own, which can be useful in movie making and story writing talents.

Relieve Stress
Hobbies in general are a great way of reducing stress. Because of this - toy collecting is no different. Some collections will require you to use your cognitive ability in other ways other than thinking of the stress-related issues associated with school or work.
In a nutshell: it basically works as a form of therapy. Once you focus on your collection, you can happily disconnect from the rest of the world and instead, immerse yourself in your passion.
Create Social Connections
Collecting toys attracts many like-minded people with similar interests to you. As a result, you are bound to meet new people that can spark solid, lasting friendships. Whether it be through social media, blogging, a toy auction, or even in the toy store.

Add a Personal Touch to Your Space
Collections can make a great talking point in your home. Whether you place them centre stage inside a glass cabinet, or dedicate a small shelf to them - they will add a great character and personal touch to your personal space. What’s more, is that having your collectables on display means you can share your hobby with friends, family - and any other visitor you have round!
Good Source of Income
Sometimes, people collect figures and toys with a plan to sell them for financial gain - kind of like an antique dealer. If researched well, certain collectables can be sold for hundreds - or even thousands - of pounds. That’s why the more you spend time researching, the more likely you are to reap financial rewards.
How Collecting Toys Started for Me
Ever since receiving my first collectable in 2000, I’ve been an avid toy collector. My love of collecting prompted me to start this website, so I can share my exclusive collection with fellow enthusiasts and the general public. With my experience, I am more than happy to provide insights and information to people interested in starting a collection of their own.
